How Merit Scholarships Work
Most Australian universities automatically assess all international student applications for merit-based scholarships. You do not need a separate scholarship application — your academic record triggers the assessment. Discounts typically range from 10% to 50% of first-year tuition.
University-Specific Scholarships for Nepali Students
- University of Adelaide: Adelaide Merit Scholarship — up to AUD 10,000/year for postgraduate coursework.
- RMIT University: RMIT International Excellence Scholarship — 10–25% tuition reduction for qualifying average.
- Deakin University: Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship — 10% of first-year fees.
- Griffith University: International High Achiever Scholarship — up to 50% first-year tuition based on GPA.
- La Trobe University: South Asia Scholarship — AUD 3,000–8,000 for students from Nepal, India, Bangladesh.
- CQUniversity: Excellence Scholarship — AUD 3,000 for eligible master's students.
Important: Check Renewable Conditions
Many scholarships are only for the first year and require maintaining a minimum GPA (usually 65–70%) for renewal. Read the conditions carefully — some lapse after semester 1 if your grades drop.
