How Much Do You Need to Show?
The Department requires you to demonstrate funds to cover: tuition + living expenses (AUD 29,710/year) + travel costs. For most Nepali students, this means showing total liquid assets of NPR 35–60 lakh depending on the course.
Accepted Financial Documents
- Bank statements: 6 months of consistent balance, showing minimal large one-time deposits (which raise red flags).
- Fixed Deposit certificates: FD renewal certificates with the bank's letterhead are strong evidence.
- Sponsor letter: A letter from your sponsor (parent/guardian) stating their relationship, annual income, and commitment to fund your education.
- Property valuations: Government-assessed land/building valuations support the overall financial picture but are not standalone proof.
Red Flags to Avoid
Large, unexplained deposits in the last 1–3 months before application are the number-one reason financial evidence is questioned. Immigration officers call this "parking money." Your balance should reflect genuine, ongoing savings.
Income Proof
If your sponsor is employed, include: salary certificates, tax clearance certificates (from IRD), PAN card, and recent pay stubs.
