Is a Health Check Mandatory?

Yes. All Nepali student visa applicants must complete a medical examination with an authorised panel physician (also called HAP ID holders). You cannot see your own doctor for this.

Authorised Panel Physicians in Nepal

  • B&B Hospital, Lalitpur — most popular, book 1–2 weeks in advance.
  • Grande International Hospital, Kathmandu
  • Norvic International Hospital, Kathmandu

What Tests Are Included?

Standard exam: chest X-ray (TB screening), blood test (if required by risk criteria), general physical examination, and urine test. Applicants from Nepal are in a medium-risk TB group, so a chest X-ray is always required.

Process

  1. Register at health.homeaffairs.gov.au to get your HAP ID.
  2. Book appointment at a panel physician with your HAP ID, passport, and photos.
  3. Results are sent directly to the Department — you don't receive a physical copy.

Cost & Timing

Expect to pay NPR 8,000–15,000 depending on the hospital. Results are uploaded within 3–5 business days. They are valid for 12 months.
